The word ที่ /tîi/ is used almost everywhere. It is understandable you might be confused when to use this word exactly.

USAHE 1: DESCRIBE A NOUN
When we want to describe nouns , ที่ /tîi/ is used as a pronoun meaning ‘that, who, which, where’:
Examples:
ผู้ชายที่คุณเจอเมื่อวานเป็นเพื่อนผม
/pûu-chaai tîi kun jer -waan bpen pûean pŏm/
The guy who you met yesterday was my friend.
ผู้หญิงที่นั่งข้างคุณเป็นเจ้านายของผม
/pûu-yĭng tîi nâng kâang kun bpen jâo-naai pŏm/
The woman who sits next to you is my boss.
ร้านอาหารที่เราไปเมื่อวานปิด
/aa-hăan tîi rao bpai mûea-waan bpìt/
The restaurant where we went yesterday was closed.
เสื้อที่ผมใส่เมื่อวานอยู่ที่ไหน
/sûea tîi pŏm sài mûea-waan yùu tîi-năi/
Where is the shirt that I wore yesterday?
Q: Which cup is mine?
A: แก้วที่อยู่บนโต๊ะ
/gâew tîi yùu bon dtó/
The one that is on the table.
EXPRESS FEELINGS:
“ที่ tîi” is put after the word we describes our feeling or emotion.
Examples:
ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก
/yin-dii tîi dâai rúu-jàk/
Nice to meet you.
ดีใจที่ได้เจอคุณอีก
/dii-jai tîi dâai jer kun ìik/
I’m happy to see you again.
ผมเสียใจที่ต้องจากประเทศไทย
/pŏm sĭa-jai tîi dtâwng jàak bprà-têet-tai/
I’m sad that I have to leave Thailand.
ผมผิดหวังที่เขาเลิกกับผม
pŏm pìt-wăang tîi káo lêrk gàp pŏm
I’m disappointed that she broke up with me.
ผมตื่นเต้นที่จะได้เรียนภาษาไทย
pŏm dtùen-dtên tîi jà dâai rian paa-săa tai
I’m excited that I will get to learn Thai
