Everyone in my family is a cat lover. Before there were four cats at my mom’s house, and two mama cats have just given birth to nine kitties so now we have 13 cats!
I would like to share a photo of these nine kitties with you because they are so adorable!!
Now let’s learn some Thai:) Cat in Thai is แมว [maew]
When you count, classifier or unit count is needed in Thai language.
The pattern is NOUN + number + Unit Count (UC)
For example:
“nine cats” : cat + 9 + UC for animal (ตัว dtua) = แมว 9 ตัว [meaw 9 dtua]
” 5 women” : women + 5 + UC for human (คน kon) = ผู้หญิง 5 คน [pûu-yĭng 5 kon]
There are 5 people in my family, and we have 13 cats.
ครอบครัวของฉันมี 5 คน และพวกเรามีแมว 13 ตัว
krôp-krua kŏrng chán mii hâa kon, léa pûak-rao mii maew 13 dtua

I love cats. They are self-sufficient. The perfect pet if you’re not at home all day. However, they make my eyes itch 🙁 Therefore no kitties for me.
