The structure for “บาง /baang/” is

Noun + บาง /baang/ + classifier

Example:

Some women

ผู้หญิงบางคน

/pûu-yĭng baang kon/

 

Some Thai people don’t like spicy food.

คนไทยบางคนไม่ชอบอาหารเผ็ด

/kon tai baang kon mâi châwp aa-hăan pèt/

 

Some shirts are expensive.

เสื้อบางตัวแพง

/sûea baang dtua paeng/

 

Some books are hard to understand.

หนังสือบางเล่มเข้าใจยาก

/năng-sŭe baang lêm kâo-jai yâak/

 

    The structure for “บ้าง /bâang/” is

VERB + บ้าง /bâang/

This structure is used in two different situations:

Situation1 : When you see someone else doing something and you would like to do the same action or activity.

Example:

ผม/ฉันอยากพูดภาษาไทยได้บ้าง

/pŏm/chán yàak pûud paa-săa tai dâai bâang/

I want to be able to speak some Thai (like my friends).

 

อยากกินบ้าง

/yàak gin bâang/

I want to eat some (as I see someone is eating something tasty).

 

อยากไปเที่ยวบ้าง

/yàak bpai-tîao bâang/

I want to enjoy some holiday.

 

Situation2 : when you want to suggest someone to do something or activity

Example:

I suggest my mom to do some exercise.

ออกกำลังกายบ้างนะคะ

/àwk-gam-lang-gaai bâang ná ká/

Please do some exercise.

 

You want to suggest your friend to get some rest.

พักผ่อนบ้างนะคะ

/pák pàwn bâang ná ká/

Please take some rest.

 

You ask your close friend to give his or her some time.

ให้เวลาฉัน/ผมบ้าง

/hâi way-lad chán/pŏm bâang/

Give me some of your time.

 

Situation2 : บ้าง /bâang/ is added after a question when you request to hear details in the response.

What do you like to eat?

คุณชอบกินอะไรบ้าง

/kun châwp gin à-rai bâang/

 

What do you like to do?

คุณชอบทำอะไรบ้าง

/kun châwp tam à-rai bâang/
