In this lesson teacher Pear is talking about useful words and phrases you related to driving. Even if you know some of these words, make sure you are focusing on the pronunciation of the words so that you are understood and sound like a real Thai. 🙂

OFFER A RIDE:
อ้าว เจมส์ จะไปไหน /âao James jà bpai năi/ Hi James, where are you going?
ให้ฉันไปส่งไหมคะ /hâi cháan bpai sòng mái ká/ Would you like a ride?
จะไปห้างเหรอ/jà bpai hâang lăw/ You’re going to the shopping mall?
ฉันจะไปห้างพอดี ไปด้วยกันค่ะ /chán jà bpai hâang paw-dii, bpai dûai-gan kâ/ I’m going to the mall, let’s go together.
TRAFFIC IS BAD:
รถติด /rót dtìt/ Traffic is really bad.
SOMEONE CUT YOU OFF
ดูสิ เขาเพิ่งขับรถตัดหน้าฉัน/duu sì, káo pêrng káp rót dtàt nâa chán/ Look! He just cut me off.
ขับรถแย่จริงๆเลย /kàp rót yâe jing-jing leoi/ What a bad driver.
FILL THE GASOLINE:
เดี๋ยวขอแวะเติมน้ำมันหน่อยนะ/dĭao kăw wáe dtrem náam-man nòi ná/I would like to stop to fill the gasoline shortly.
น้ำมันจะหมด/náam-man jà mòt/ The fuel is running low.
FINDING A CAR PARK:
ปกติที่นี่นะ หาที่จอดรถยากมาก
/bpà-gà-dtì, tîi-nîi ná, hăa tîi-jàwd-rót yâak mâak/
Usually, it is very difficult to find a parking lot in this place.
แต่วันนี้โชคดีนะเนี่ยะ ที่จอดรถเต็มเลย
/dtàe wan-níi chôok-dii ná nîa, tîi-jàwd rót dtem leoi/
But today we’re lucky, there are plenty of parking spaces/
จอดตรงไหนดีนะ
/jàwd dtrong năi dii ná/
Where should I park?
จอดตรงนี้ละกัน

ไปส่ง /bpai sòng/ = give a ride

ขับ /kàp/ = drive
รถ /rót/ = car
แย่ /yâe/ = badly
แวะ /wáe/ = stop by
เติม /dterm/ = refill
น้ำมัน /náam-man/ = gasoline, oil
หมด /mòt/ = to be finished, run out

** มี /mii/ + something + เต็ม /dtem/ = a place is full of something
ตรงไหน /dtrong năi/ = which spot?, where?
ตรงนี้ /dtrong níi/ = right here

Thank you Pear and Mot for that interesting video, but one statement is confusing me. Pear says ที่จอดรถเต็มเลย
‘ there are plenty of parking spaces’. I thought that ที่จอดรถเต็มเลย would mean ‘ the car park is absolutely full’.
