Hi Mod,
I’m just start learning Thai on my own, and i’m so grateful.because many videos teaching basic Thai is available on youtube. I have watched some.of the videos including your video on.youtube. Very helpful
However, i have tried many times to find the meaning of the word นั่นเอง ,
I know it is a particle and some website says it means “sure enough” etc. But i find the meaning does not suit well when i hear Thai speaker speaking the word นั่นเอง in their sentence.
Can you give me a little help by explaining the meaning and how to use it?
Thanks

นั่นเอง is used to emphasize a statement when you find out about something you had been looking for or find out the answer that you have been searching for. For example;
1) You always hear sound on the roof of your house but you don’t know what it is then one day you finally found out that it is a squirrel, then you would say กระรอกนั่นเอง! (Ah! it was squarel).
2) You get a mysterious letter from anonymous then later you found out that it was sent from a long lost friend called John then you would say จอห์นนั่นเอง (Ah! it was John).
I hope this helps.
