Love is in the air, it is the month of LOVE. I would like to take this opportunity to talk about some expressions that you could use on your lovely day or actually anyday;)
Valentine’s day is the day of love so in Thai it is called “wan hàng kwaam rák” วันแห่งความรัก
1. Pŏm rák kun [ผมรักคุณ] (male speaker), Chán rák kun (female speaker) [ฉันรักคุณ]
= I love you. ♥
2. Pŏm/Chánchôrp kun [ผม/ฉัน ชอบคุณ]
= I like you.
3. Pŏm/Chán rák kun kon diew[ผม/ฉันรักคุณคนเดียว]
= you are the only one I love.
*คนเดียว /kon diao/ means ‘alone’.
4. kun sŭay mâak kráp [คุณสวยมากครับ]
= you are very beautiful.
5. Kun nâa-rák jang kráp/kâ [คุณน่ารักจังครับ/ค่ะ]
= you are so cute/lovely.
น่ารัก /nâa-rák/ means ‘adorable, pretty, cute’
6. kŏr ber toe-rá-sàp nòi dâi mái? [ขอเบอร์โทรศัพท์หน่อยได้ไหม]
= Can I have your telephone number please?
เบอร์ /ber/ means ‘number’
โทรศัพท์ /toe-rá-sàp/ means ‘phone’
7. kuen-níi kun jà tam à-rai? [คืนนี้คุณจะทำอะไร]
=What will you do tonight?
คืนนี้ /kuen-níi/ means ‘tonight’
8. bpai duu nǎng gan mái? [ไปดูหนังกันมั้ย]
= Shall we go to see a movie?
ไป /bpai/ means ‘to go’
ดู /duu/ means ‘to watch’
หนัง /nǎng/ means ‘movie’
9. bpai gin kâao gan mái? [ไปกินข้าวกันไหม]
= Shall we go to get something to eat?
10. kun jà dtàng-ngaan gàp pŏm mái [คุณจะแต่งงานกับผมไหม]
= Will you marry me?♥♥♥

One question, rak tae pae rayatang, sounds like true love WINS over distance. Not sad at all. But out of sight out of mind, yes that’s sad. Is rak tae pae rayatang happy or sad?

รักแท้ rák táe (true love) แพ้ páe (defeated, lose) ระยะทาง rá-yá-taang (distance), therefore true love is defeated. This expression is sad.

I found your website while looking for information about Thailand and Valentines Day. I have been to Thailand twice and loved it. My second trip we stayed in rural northern Thailand and I got to understand the culture more than a standard tourist to Bangkok.
I do have a girl I communicate with regularly, and wanted to send her a special message, but she speaks little English and me little Thai. Since you offered on your website for how to speak I would like your help. I would like to know how to say and write “Wishing I was in Thailand spending time with you.” Thanks for your help.
